Species: GALENA Locality: Johnson Rd., Bow, NH Specimen Size: 10 mm field of view. Galena crystal in quartz crystal vug. Field Collected: Jim Cahoon Catalog No.: NC Notes: No image stacking. This is the only euhedral galena crystal I saw from this Bow locality. |
Species: DENDRITE Locality: Johnson Rd., Bow, NH Specimen Size: 6 mm field of view. Quartz crystal with Mn dendrites Field Collected: Jim Cahoon Catalog No.: NC Notes: |
Species: SCORZALITE Locality: Keyes Mine, Orange, NH Specimen Size: 3.7 cm specimen Field Collected: Curt G. Segeler Catalog No.: A 2018 MMNE silent auction specimen. Notes: [tm] This is the first Keyes Mine scorzalite I have seen. |
Species: PYRITE Locality: Dalton Gold Mine, Dalton, NH Specimen Size: 6.5 cm specimen of sulfide minerals. Pyrite in upper left. Field Collected: Woody Thompson - Oct. 1998 Catalog No.: 2084 Notes: A voucher specimen for pyrite at the Dalton Mine. Woody collected this specimen while doing geologic mapping in the Whitefield quadrangle for the USGS. |
Species: GALENA Locality: Dalton Gold Mine, Dalton, NH Specimen Size: 4 cm specimen of massive galena in milky quartz. Field Collected: Woody Thompson - Oct. 1998 Catalog No.: 2082 Notes: A voucher specimen for galena at the Dalton Mine. |
Species: SPHALERITE Locality: Dalton Gold Mine, Dalton, NH Specimen Size: 5.5 cm specimen with massive sphalerite Field Collected: Woody Thompson - Oct. 1998 Catalog No.: 2083 Notes: A voucher specimen for sphalerite at the Dalton Mine. Pyrite and galena are also present. |
Species: MUSCOVITE Locality: Johnson Rd. Locality, Bow, NH Specimen Size: At green arrow with red dot: 2 cm muscovite pseudomorph after tourmaline. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 2083 Notes: Un-altered black tourmaline also present. Identification suggested by Peter Cristofono. Several pegmatite dikes were observed cutting through the country rock at this blasted ledge locality. |
Species: FLUORITE Locality: Wise Mine, Westmoreland, NH Specimen Size: 3.5 cm fluorite octahedron. Field Collected: Unknown Catalog No.: 2080 Notes: Purchased from Bill Metropolis at 2108 Capital Mineral Club show. When I saw this on Bill's table for just $5, I could not leave it there! |

Species: ARROJADITE - group Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 1.5 mm vug opening - vertical Field Collected: Bob Wilken Catalog No.: A Bob Wilken specimen and photo Notes: Arrojadite group crystals are rare. [bw] EDS Atomic percents from EDS: O-48.57; Na-4.43; Mg-0.22; Al-0.47; Sr-0.07; P-18.60 K-0.24; Ca-1.46; Ba-0.97; Mn-9.38; Fe-15.60. Poor result w. IMA tool. Composition seems to fit an arrojadite, but which? Minor %’s of elements Sr, Ba, Al, K make it difficult to zero in on a specific sub-species. An Arrojadite of some kind likely. |
Species: KULANITE Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: Kulanite mass - 5 mm across Field Collected: Bob Wilken Catalog No.: A Bob Wilken specimen and photo. Notes: Atomic percents from EDS: [bw] 0-42.90; Al-8.36; P-16.92;Ba-9.22; Mn-11.51; Fe-11.10. All except Mn are essential for Kulanite (apparently Fe dominant). Kulanite can have Mn as non-essential. |
